Citizen Telephone Purchases Cable Provider
Citizens Communications Corporation (the parent company of Citizens Telephone Company and Citizens Long Distance Company) and LongView Cable and Data LLC have entered into an agreement for Citizens to acquire the assets of LongView’s local cable and data services business in the Higginsville area.
This acquisition covers the assets related to LongView’s cable television and data services provided to 12 communities. The communities included in this transaction are Higginsville, Corder, Alma, Blackburn, Concordia, Emma, Gilliam, Houstonia, Malta Bend, Slater, Sweet Springs and Waverly. The companies expect the closing of the acquisition to occur during the next 3 months after obtaining all required consents and permits.
Citizens Telephone Company is located in Higginsville, Missouri and was incorporated in 1908. The company is a communications company offering landline telecommunications, high-speed data and internet services, and long distance telecommunications services to its customers. The company provides service to customers located in a 177 square mile service territory in the heart of Lafayette County, including the communities of Higginsville, Corder, Mayview, Aullville and the surrounding rural area. The company is locally owned and operated through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan and Trust.
