Gov. Blunt Appoints Gunn to Public Service Commission

Kevin Gunn Gov. Matt Blunt appointed Kevin D. Gunn (D) to the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Mr. Gunn, 37, of Webster Groves, works as an attorney at Sonnenschien, Nath and Rosenthal. He has previously served as chief of staff for former Rep. Richard Gephardt and as a law clerk in the Attorney General’s Office. Mr. Gunn holds a bachelor’s degree from the American University and a juris doctorate from the St. Louis University School of Law.

"Kevin Gunn’s experience in government and the legal community will be valuable to Missouri consumers as he begins his term as a member of the Public Service Commission, " Gov. Blunt said. "As a member of the Commission Kevin Gunn will be responsible for helping to ensure that energy consumers have access to safe, reliable and affordable energy. I appreciate his willingness to serve Missouri consumers and wish him well as he takes on the important responsibilities of the Commission. "

"I want to thank the Governor for the opportunity to participate in creating a progressive energy policy for Missouri that will both protect the consumer and help develop industry in Missouri, " Mr. Gunn said.

The Public Service Commission is responsible for deciding utility cases and for promulgating and enforcing administrative rules. The Commission works to ensure that regulated utility services are safe, of the highest quality, and delivered to the consumer in a timely manner at just and reasonable rates for Missourians. These services are to be provided by utility companies that operate with efficiency, innovation and customer focus while providing the company an opportunity to earn a reasonable return on its investment. The Public Service Commission also regulates the mobile home, modular unit and recreational vehicle industries to ensure compliance with uniform manufacturer and dealer standards established for the protection of the consumer.

Mr. Gunn replaces Linward Appling whose term expired. His appointment is subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending on March 13, 2014.
